CHURCH: Seekers Christian Fellowship, Mississauga, ON

Significant Dates:

∙ Appointed for ministry with Fellowship International in 2019.

It is from a backdrop of longstanding civil unrest and the devastating tsunami that struck Sri Lanka in 2004 that Ronald’s overseas missional work began. His desire is to instil hope, peace, unity, and inner joy under the umbrella of Christ’s love in needy communities by providing holistic care in tangible ways. Being fully aware that education and Christian faith are two key components for children to reach their God-given potential, he established and helped fund the construction of Christian education facilities in five Sri Lankan villages in war-torn regions.

Ronald also established vocational training facilities in two villages to assist the women and youth of these marginalized communities.

In these training facilities:

  • women learn a trade such as sewing, knitting, or baking
  • youth attend the after-school programs to learn computer studies, English, and Math
  • toddlers attend pre-schools

The training is carried out by the local church plant who share the Good News of the Gospel in and through these activities. Part of Ronald’s holistic care of the community children is to look after the widows and orphans (James 1:27). Three times a year, Ronald and his mission team send gently used clothing to this community and provide nutritious meals during field visits.

In partnership with the Lanka Bible College and Seminary, Ronald conducts several leadership training programs for pastors and Christian workers in Sri Lanka during his bi-annual visits. The beneficiaries of these programs are pastors and Christian workers who cannot afford to attend formal education.
