Bay Park Baptist Church is a mid-size congregation of 400+ in the Bayridge neighbourhood of Kingston, Ontario’s west end. We are currently seeking an Interim Student Ministries Director to minister to youth ages 11 through 18.

This is a temporary part time position, at a minimum of one year, while Bay Park discerns next steps for Student Ministry leadership. Exact expected hours can be determined at a future point but the target is 16-24 hours per week.

Bay Park values leaders equipping lay leaders and a part-time position ensures the Interim Director will continue to rely on the gifts and skills of those serving youth alongside them. The Interim Director is not expected to be the sole youth minister but to equip, facilitate, and empower Bay Park to disciple the next generation.

  • Establishing and maintaining a vision/purpose for the student program (specific) and student ministry (general). This should be connected with Bay Park’s mission and vision.
  • Meeting with or calling youth and/or parents as needed and empowering leaders to do the same.
  • Recruiting, on-boarding, and training for the student ministry leadership team.

Position Summary:

Position Overview
The Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts will oversee the planning and implementation of our Sunday gatherings and all church wide events, while working closely with the Lead Pastor. In collaboration with the Creative team, he is responsible to create dynamic and engaging Sunday gatherings and church wide events that allow people to connect, thrive, and commit.

Qualifications:
The Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts should have a demonstrated track record of leadership in music and ministry. A college degree is required. Seminary or graduate studies is preferred. Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts must have efficient computer skills. Experience with ProPresenter is an asset along with database management systems such as Planning Center or have a willingness to learn. This position requires competence and experience in musical skill (piano/keyboard preferred), theory and worship leading. Preferred familiarity/experience with graphic design and video editing. The Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts should demonstrate a mature Christian faith, a heart for God, for people, biblical knowledge and a lifestyle that is in accord with The Bridge Church mission, vision and values.

Qualities we desire in an ideal candidate are:

  1. Leadership Ability – able to work collegially with musicians, artists and other leaders and pastorally with a diverse congregation
  2. Theologically grounded – able to articulate a theology of worship that demonstrates a solid grasp of historic principles and contemporary issues in Christian worship.
  3. Musically trained – understands music from a variety of genres and generations, with particular emphasis on contemporary music.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and resource all worship services at the church and ensure all programs and services delivered maintain Scriptural integrity.

  • Lead Worship and rehearsals

Leadership and Collaboration:
Effective leadership skills are vital to this position. Building and leading teams of people requires the ability to select the right people, to build consensus, to delegate, to enable and encourage teams to get the job done, and to celebrate successes. Providing good direction also involves working effectively with other ministry leaders, having a servant attitude, providing and communicating specific plans and materials, and shaping those plans and materials into
effective programs. The Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts will look for and act on opportunities for development and mentorship including: volunteer recruitment, team building, and training. The director of women’s ministry will serve in a team ministry alongside key volunteers within a variety of ministries for women at Emmanuel. 2. Marital Status

While we do not expect to have the spouses of our staff involved beyond the role of a normal member of Emmanuel, we do expect them to be a participating member of the church family serving in their area of gifting and passion.

3. Accountability

The Director of Women’s Ministry is accountable to the Lead Pastor. Weekly staff meetings are a requirement. Staff will pray together, plan together, and grow together during these meetings. It is the hope of the Lead Pastor that a close spiritual and ministry bond will be developed and continually fostered among all staff members. There will be annual review by the lead pastor.
