A Heart for Japan, a Call Through Music

Jesse Lam’s Story

This month on the Fellowship International blog, we’re featuring Jesse Lam, a musician and missionary with a unique approach to sharing the Gospel. Jesse’s ministry combines his passion for music with his love for Japanese culture, creating an authentic and creative way to connect with people. He uses his skills as a songwriter and performer to build relationships with Japanese artists and musicians, preparing for his mission work in Tokyo.

Growing up influenced by Japanese culture through his family, Jesse developed a deep interest in how music is written and expressed within that culture. Alongside his band, he writes songs that tell stories of life, friendship, and spiritual growth, often blending rock with Japanese musical styles. Though some members of the band are not yet Christians, prayer and faith discussions have become an important part of the band, encouraging both their creative work and its members.

In this interview, Jesse reflects on how God is shaping his character and faith as he navigates the challenges of preparing for long-term mission work. He shares insights into the spiritual landscape of Japan and how music can be a powerful tool to share about the Kingdom of God.
