In Due Season We Will Reap

FAIR is strategically partnering with local churches to see lives transformed by the Gospel as they address real needs on the ground.
In the remote mountains of Lindula in Sri Lanka, Love Trust, a Fellowship Child Sponsorship ministry, has faithfully served the surrounding villages through programs that respond to both spiritual and practical needs. One of their key outreach initiatives provides vocational training for local mothers, equipping them with valuable skills and a renewed sense of purpose.
In their testimonies, the women express feelings of uncertainty about their futures prior to attending classes, but upon completion, are filled with hope and feelings of transformation. We highlight *D’s story as an example of this sentiment among her peers.
“My life before this program was filled with challenges. At 16, I lost my mother, and later, my husband passed away, leaving me feeling hopeless and uncertain about my future. Growing up with my father and brother, I faced many hardships. My brother has been my rock, sacrificing so much for me, even now as he works abroad to support me. There were moments of deep despair when I felt I could no longer go on.”
Through a mutual friend, D was connected to baking classes taught by “S” at the Love Trust hub, eventually taking tailoring and make-up classes as well. Through the building of trust and shared vulnerability, D also learned about God:
“Teacher “S”, with her warmth and friendship, has been a guiding light. Her devotions introduced me to God’s love, forgiveness, and grace, helping me find purpose despite my struggles. Despite her own challenges, she remains dedicated to uplifting us.”
D eventually found friendship with peers and the other teachers while learning skills to become more financially independent.
“Through this program, I’ve realized the value of the healthy body God has given me and the importance of self-reliance. Before, I felt embarrassed asking others for help with basic needs. Now, I earn money through baking and make-up services, allowing me to live independently without relying on others. My brother will always support me, but I am learning these skills for myself. This program has also reignited my dream of pursuing a degree in fashion design—a goal I never thought possible.”
D’s reignition of a lost dream exposes how lack of skills and support for village women can be a source of lost self-identity.
“I came here feeling lost, but I leave with self-confidence, skills, and a community that feels like family. This program has helped me discover who I am and what I can achieve. For that, I am eternally grateful.”
FAIR’s goal is to make sure Sri Lankan women like D continue to get access to the hope of the Gospel and holistic care offered by Love Trust. One way this is being done is through the Foundations | Sri Lanka special appeal.
