Looking Back

The mission of FAIR (Fellowship Aid and International Relief) is to alleviate human suffering and social injustice in the name of Christ. Every now and then, the FAIR team likes to look back at the past months and celebrate how this mission has been put into action because of the generosity of our donors.

Here are some of our highlights.

Child Sponsorship

Sponsoring a child through the Fellowship’s Child Sponsorship program makes a long-lasting, holistic impact in the life of a child, providing love for today and hope for tomorrow.

Earlier this year, Joy Foundation joined as the Fellowship’s fifth child sponsorship program location. Serving Haitian children whose parents are illegal migrants stuck in the Dominican Republic, their focus is on building a better future for these vulnerable children mentally, spiritually, and physically. Children receive quality education, build a personal relationship with Christ, and grow up strong through a food program. To learn more about Joy Foundation and the rest of the child sponsorship program locations, please visit: fellowship.ca/ChildSponsorship

Pray that each child involved in the Fellowship Child Sponsorship program will grow into thriving adults with hope for their future.

FAIR Special Appeal Updates

Out of the Waiting Room (Madagascar) Fall 2021

Goal: $145,000   Received: $257,000  (as of May 31, 2022)

In Madagascar, there are only 100 surgeons serving the country’s 26 million people. In January 2022, FAIR, Fellowship International missionaries Dr. Jesh and Julie Thiessen, the Good News Hospital in Madagascar, and the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS), launched a surgical residency program to train local doctors to international standards. The two first-year residents, Tefy and Rado, have started their training program.

Five years from now, they will have completed their surgical training to be able to practice surgery independently in Madagascar.

Pray for concentration and effectiveness for surgical residents Tefy and Rado as they are trained; pray for wisdom for Dr. Jesh Thiessen and the other hospital staff as they teach the residents.

Growing Home (Honduras) Winter 2022

Goal: $150,000 Received: $79,000  (as of May 31, 2022)

Casa Hogar is a Christian children’s home that provides for at-risk children in Honduras. Fellowship International missionary Melodie Francis and a team of staff and volunteers currently care for 29 children and youth. Each child receives the warmth and support of a home and family including: food, clothing, medical care, education, recreational activities, love, and spiritual guidance. Children come to know God as their Father, and Jesus as their Saviour. Funds raised through this appeal will be used to expand the home’s facilities thereby providing for the growing needs of the children and youth, and improving the quality of care and education for everyone at Casa Hogar.

Pray that the children and youth living at Casa Hogar will continue to grow in their studies and in their relationship with Jesus.

FAIR’s partner, Tearfund Canada, has been able to assist 2,600 Haitian families as they have begun to rebuild their community. Work is expected to be completed by August of 2022.
