A Church is Ready

Stepping out of the airport in Dhaka felt like stepping into a tidal wave of humanity. Pastor John, leader of nearly 400 Baptist churches across ten districts of Bangladesh, greeted me like a long-lost brother.

As I travelled with their team I discovered something beautiful: the church in Bangladesh is alive. Although poor in resources, they are rich in faith and overflowing with generosity. Their vibrant worship services pack the night with people singing and dancing.

Their vision is simple and powerful—to see the church be the hands and feet of Christ in every village, caring for both body and soul. And as I listened to them, I sensed the Holy Spirit saying: They are ready.

Everywhere I looked, life was bursting with colour, noise, movement, and energy. But poverty is everywhere. The streets are crowded with those who sleep outdoors to survive. Cards advertising brothels litter the sidewalks, hidden reminders of deep suffering. There is so much potential here for partnership. The opportunities feel endless. The workers are faithful. The spirit is moving.

However, what struck me the most was that the Bangladesh church is not waiting for assistance. They are already rescuing. They are already planting Gospel seeds. They are already serving. They are already proclaiming and demonstrating the Gospel with grace and boldness.

I left Bangladesh convinced that God has opened a door for us to walk through together. We are joining this family of believers—encouraging, equipping, learning, and celebrating what God is doing through them. Let’s be the kind of partners who pray earnestly, give generously, show up relationally, and cheer loudly for our brothers and sisters who are advancing the Gospel in places like Bangladesh.

Church alive. Needs supplied. Christ glorified.

That is the story God is writing in Bangladesh and we get to participate.

Thanks be to God.
