Edwin and Helmi
Significant Dates:
· Appointed for long term service in March 2006.
Edwin and Helmi were appointed as Fellowship International missionaries to Indonesia in 2006 and deployed in January 2008. From 2008 to 2022, Edwin served at the Indonesian Theological Seminary in the city of Manado, North Sulawesi, to train new generations of Christian leaders, teachers, pastors, evangelists, and church planters. While teaching in the areas of New Testament studies, Christian ethics, Christian apologetics, and biblical leadership, Edwin also served as the academic dean from 2010 to 2015, and as the president of the seminary from 2015 to 2022.
January 2023 marked the beginning of a new ministry for Edwin and Helmi. Along with several former seminary students, Edwin started a foundation called Mercusuar Indonesia (Lighthouse Indonesia). Mercusuar Indonesia focuses on implementing the disciple-making movement strategy among unreached people groups, marginal groups (e.g. those in prison), nominal Christians, or self-professed Christians who haven’t responded in repentance and faith to Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
At this time, in the beginning of its journey, the Mercusuar Indonesia team has 40 potential field workers who have begun the implementation of the disciple-making movement strategy in several areas of the country with very promising results. Their God-sized vision is to disciple 240,000 people who belong to 20,000 house churches led by 20,000 facilitators within the next 20 years.
Edwin and Helmi have two grown children, Kyle and Toar, who live in Canada.
