Child Sponsorship Program
Words are never sufficient. A picture, supposedly worth a thousand words, helps. Still, as eloquent or as many as they may be, neither words nor pictures are enough to make any of us fully understand what it is like to be a child robbed of everything that we in the first world associate with a healthy and happy childhood.
Worldwide there are an estimated 140 million orphaned children, deprived of one or both parents. It is also estimated that 100 million children live on the streets today, vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. The UNHCR reports that over half of the world's refugees (25.4 million) are children who spend their childhood away from home and often separated from family. A joint Word Bank-UNICEF study published in 2016 reports that 385 million children around the world live in extreme poverty.
The parables of the New Testament include a description of the nature of Kingdom people when Jesus says: "Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." — Matthew 25:34-36
FAIR is committed to the development of the whole person, with the priority of providing an opportunity for children and youth to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour and to grow to model Him in their lives as Kingdom people.
The Fellowship’s child sponsorship program has projects in five locations: Dominican Republic (Joy Foundation), Honduras (Casa Hogar), Lebanon (Cedar Home, and Clementia Life Centre), and Sri Lanka. Each location is unique designed to meet the specific needs within the community.
Child sponsorship provides an opportunity for you to accompany a child or a youth in their journey toward adulthood through a sustained support plan. Will you join us on the journey?
