Somewhere in Bengal

This month, we are so excited to share this story from one of our missionaries based in Bengal. Let's dive right into his on-field report.

Last week at our Tuesday Zoom meeting, one of the pastors reported that a young Hindu engineer accepted Christ recently. He took home a Bengali New Testament Bible which he gave to his 78-year-old grandmother. His grandmother read the whole New Testament three times and accepted Jesus as her God! She called her son (the father of the engineer) and the rest of their family and said to them, "All my life, I had followed these other gods. But now for the rest of my life, I am following Jesus. You may follow whomever you wish, but this is my decision."

(In Bengali family culture, she is regarded as the Matriarch of their home as the eldest grandmother.)

There was upset in the home. The father of the young engineer called him and exclaimed, "Why didn't you tell us about your decision to follow Jesus? Did you have to bypass us and go straight to the head of the family? Look at what you've done!"

The pastor who joined our Zoom meeting is praying that through this young engineer and his grandmother, the light of the Gospel will fill their home and bring salvation to their entire family.

What an amazing testimony of the power of God's living Word! We are so encouraged to hear how God is working beyond our imagination even in the midst of a pandemic, when we are limited to Zoom meetings from the other side of the world.

We ask for your prayers for more life-changing encounters like this, and especially for this young engineer and his grandmother.

We pray that you will also be undeniably captivated by the power of the Gospel and be our Lord's witnesses wherever you are!

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." Romans 1:16
