Why FAIR Exists

Fellowship Aid and International Relief (FAIR) exists to alleviate human suffering and social injustice in our world and seeks to be the key channel through which Fellowship churches provide humanitarian aid in Christ’s name.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
—Micah 6:8 (ESV)

Many followers of Christ are quick to call themselves “Great Commission” and “Great Commandment” Christians. But Micah 6:8 confronts all of us with the “Great Requirement”. Am I marked by being a “Great Requirement” follower of Jesus? One who does justice, loves kindness, and walks humbly with God?

The heart of the matter, I believe, happens to be a matter of the heart. Humbleness of heart is a key characteristic here for me. The formation of my heart attitude comes from ‘walking’ with my Heavenly Father. I notice the things He notices. Widows, orphans, and the poor are critical parts of His world. But His loving, humble heart for them presses me to follow His lead. I can be overwhelmed by observing the things that my Lord says are important to Him, and/or I can bury my head in the sand and pretend that human suffering and social injustice do not exist. Or I can humbly follow my God and humbly respond to the leading of His Spirit to the needs He asks me to respond to each day. This can be costly, often it is sacrificial. I must give up my time and my treasure. But this is what we are called to in Micah 6:8. I don’t believe the issue is not knowing the “Great Requirement,” it’s my heart’s willingness to get involved and to respond.

FAIR can provide you with current information on needs of widows, orphans, and the poor. FAIR will present you with projects and aid programs that are designed to alleviate human suffering and social injustice. Will you be much more than a Great Commission and Great Commandment Christian? Will you be a Great Requirement Christian?
