Myanmar Update

There is nowhere safe right now. The situation is the same everywhere in Myanmar. During the day, villagers are fleeing their homes and hiding in the jungle for safety. At night, they go home. Some have escaped to other villages but also face constant fear,” our local source from OM shared.

FAIR, in partnership with Operation Mobilization (OM), launched an emergency appeal inviting people to give to support people in Myanmar during their national crisis after the military coup in February. OM has numerous teams in the region who are able to respond and care for people with significant needs.

An immediate and short-term response by OM is to distribute basic food supplies and other relief support to hundreds of internally displaced families via local partners. Plans and efforts continue to be adjusted as security issues and COVID-19 constraints add extra levels of challenge to implementation.

While  the situation remains volatile, OM has been liaising with trusted partners on the ground and is pursuing appropriate ways to respond to the needs of the communities at risk.

  • Pray that those who are distributing aid to those in Myanmar will have clear opportunities to share the love of Christ with people displaced by the conflict.
  • Pray that the Lord would restore peace to this country and bring a swift resolution to this crisis.
