New Year, New you? Just a Click Away

It’s that time of year.

You know, the time when you’re supposed to get a “fresh start”. When making a change seems like a societal obligation, even though when you get down to it, it’s really just another day on the calendar.

It’s easy to forget that having the ability to make significant change in our lives is a privilege. Not only do we have the freedom to make choices, but we have many avenues for support.

Want to get healthy? There are dozens of gyms, weight loss programs, support groups and medical supports to help you do that, all within the easy click of a button or a quick word to your smart device.

Want to change your career? You can quickly search for job postings, network through social media, go back to school and apply for grants and loans to help you do that. Again all just a click away.

How about increasing your giving? That one is easy too, although less likely to hit the “top 10” lists for New Year’s resolutions. Maybe it’s harder to see what kind of change generosity can make. Or maybe we’re just used to thinking about resolutions being inwardly and self-help focused.

The Bible has a lot to say about finances and generosity. Just look in Proverbs or maybe sit by Jesus’ feet in the New Testament for a while. It’s clear that God loves a cheerful giver. As we desire to be obedient and faithful to the One who’s given us so much, it seems like a straightforward next step. Be more generous. But making decisions as to where to give can be hard! Everywhere we turn there’s a need, an emergency, a cause that we care about. So how to choose?

What about choosing freedom? What if you could make a monthly gift that would open doors for a child who has very few options or support?

That’s exactly what becoming a sponsor through the Fellowship child sponsorship program means. With your monthly gift of $35, a child gets to go to school. Depending on the ministry, you may be helping give them a home and help meet some of their physical needs. They’re surrounded by people who care about them and their future, and who demonstrate how much God loves them. They’re empowered, equipped, and given new options, new choices. They’re given freedom.

So this New Year, would you consider sponsoring a child? It’s just a click away.
