An Unheard of Inflation Rate Impacts Lives

By late August, Venezuela's neighbours were closing their borders to the streams of refugees fleeing the worsening economic and political crisis within the country. The IMF has calculated that by the end of the year inflation will have reached an unheard of one million percent. Shortages have driven many to searching for food in garbage cans. Store shelves are empty. According to the Brookings Institution, Venezuela's crisis will exceed Syria's. Venezuelan pastors and people have crossed the border into Colombia looking for help to take back to their people. Others have fled seeking permanent asylum. Colombian churches are seeking to respond to the need of their brethren. We are called to treat strangers among us as our own people (Leviticus 19:33-34). FAIR is partnering with Fellowship International missionaries Claudia and Diego Cardona and Phil Webb (Colombia) as they minister to Venezuelan refugees fleeing the economic crisis in their home country through the, "Helping the Sojourner" mini-appeal. To date, we have received $7,080.
