Freedom - Churches

It costs $10,000 to fund a single rescue operation from investigation, rescue, and aftercare to prosecution. Each operation has the potential to rescue multiple women and children. Would your church commit to funding one or more rescue operation(s) this Thanksgiving or Christmas (or partnering with another church to meet this goal)?

As part of the Freedom | Bangladesh special appeal, FAIR is asking churches to engage in one or more of the following ways. It’s up to each church to prayerfully decide their level of engagement. We invite you to review the options below and identify what fits your church family best.

Option 1: Commit to a gift or offering

Decide on a financial goal that your church or group can commit to give or to raise in a special offering or fundraiser.

Some things to consider when setting your church’s goal:

  • Different churches are able to raise different amounts. Set a faith goal that fits your congregation’s size and capacity, but that is also big enough to create a sense of excitement and dependence on God. Then celebrate whatever your church family is able to raise.
  • Book a speaker to come visit your church or group and share about the Freedom | Bangladesh special appeal and what God is already doing in South Asia.
  • Check out the promotional resources that FAIR has made available to help you promote this appeal in your context.
  • Read the instructions to churches on how to make donations.

Option 2: Learn more about Bangladesh

Watch the Freedom | Bangladesh appeal video to learn about how FAIR will be helping to bring freedom to victims of modern-day slavery. Consider sharing this video with your church leading up to your special offering or fundraiser.

FAIR will be hosting a virtual event to share more about Bangladesh, the new program to be launched, and stories about successful rescues and aftercare in other South Asian countries. Consider inviting your church members to join the virtual event to listen, learn, and pray together for our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh.

Option 3: Pray for Bangladesh

Make time to pray for the local church, law officials, and IJM’s workers in Bangladesh at your weekly church gathering, as part of your church offering, or as a regular rhythm. Take a look at the Freedom Prayer Guide specifically developed to help inform your church’s prayers for Bangladesh.
