An Update About Heart of the Village

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:7-8, NIV)

We are so overjoyed by the generosity of many people and church communities that have joined with us in supporting the mothers of young children and pregnant women who had found themselves cut off from the community in rural Sri Lanka. “It takes a village to raise a child” and in this case, a global village of people joining together in caring for these marginalized people.

Through the Easter season, a number of churches partnered with FAIR by inviting their communities to give generously towards the Heart of the Village appeal and along with many previous gifts, we have so far seen $62,548 come in towards our goal of $85,000. Thank you so much! We are encouraged and we praise God for His goodness.

The local church community is well prepared to proceed with renovations to the existing building that will include a large recreational/church space, prenatal care room, and vocational training room, as well as improvements to the preschool facilities. Secondly, preparations are proceeding to launch the prenatal education and food support program for pregnant women, along with the vocational training intended to empower women to support themselves and their families. We are looking forward to sharing more stories about the impact of this initiative in the community with you in the coming months.

We are grateful for the new life that Jesus made available through His death and resurrection. We are grateful that this hope will continue to also be made known through the local church community in Sri Lanka. Thank you for joining in this opportunity!
