Lifeline Mini-Appeal Update

In October, FAIR launched the Lifeline mini-appeal (Venezuela). Funds raised are being used for the shipping costs associated with sending essential items like dehydrated food, medical supplies, shoes, and materials for the local church. These items are distributed to the most needy through a local NGO and local church volunteers.

Venezuela has been hit hard by economic and political crisis, causing hyperinflation and forcing many to go without food on a regular basis in order to be able to pay for other things like rent. There are also reports that the number of children dying from malnutrition has been increasing over the last few years (read more here). These are things that the government of Venezuela wants to keep hidden, but the effects are still being felt. That’s why the shipments being sent by FAIR are so important. Purchasing the same items in Venezuela would be impossible given the significant devaluation of their currency.

Through Lifeline, you can provide the gift of a good meal to those who often go without. But it also brings hope to the hopeless — both to those being served and those who serve — to know that they have not been forgotten and that there are people in other countries who care about them. What a gift to give this Christmas!
