Use Me Today!

Short-term mission trips were eye-opening for us. We saw firsthand what it looked like to serve cross culturally; the life of a missionary; and formed a key question for us to answer: “How does God want us to serve in His Kingdom?”

Over time, as we continued to seek the answer to this question, we have joined Pierre and Hanna Jutras in Poland as a part of Fellowship International’s LAUNCH program. As interns we are serving in several ministries in Poland. Our two main focuses are youth ministry in our local Polish church and English programs.

Teaching English has opened up for us a huge number of opportunities. While we did not come to Poland with the expectation that we would be involved in English ministry, we now clearly see that God has prepared our path. We are running several clubs and have also taught in English camps. We use the Bible to teach English and it has opened up many ways for us to have conversations with people about God.

The Lord has been faithful over and over again while we have been here. He has taught us a lot about trust and spiritual discernment. Being in a new culture, with a new language, and a new job presents us with new challenges, and God is showing us His faithfulness.

One story that demonstrates how God is opening up our path began over five years ago. At that time, Jess was involved in a soccer camp in the town in which we are now living. On a morning recently, as we were waiting to catch a train, Jess noticed a girl standing across the platform that looked like a girl that had been on her soccer camp team all those years ago. But, just then, the train arrived and the girl disappeared. That same day as we headed home by train, we ended up sitting almost next to the same girl. This time it was clear to Jess that she knew the girl and that God had orchestrated this meeting. Just as Jess turned around to say something, the girl started the conversation. She told Jess that she remembered who she was. Since that time Jess has been able to meet with her for coffee and to renew their friendship. We clearly see God’s fingerprints all over this meeting. Together, through events like this we see that God is in charge of our path.

As we reflect on our time in Poland we realize that God is calling all of us to His mission field whether that field is across an ocean or just down the street. In each and every location God is calling us to launch out which means that we must trust that He has made ready the path for us to walk. Join us in this simple prayer: “God use me today”. We have proven in our LAUNCH internship in Poland that God loves to answer this prayer and to use us to extend His Kingdom.
