Ken and Cathy Yinger feel that they are beginning of the most exciting and challenging adventure of their lives and ministry so far.  God has clearly shown them that He desires to use them and their unique set of experiences, knowledge and spiritual gifts to reach people for Him in the region of Extremadura, Spain.

Ken grew up in the state of Wyoming, USA. He came to Christ at the age of 12 and was blessed to be a part of a mission-minded Baptist church.  At 20 he clearly felt the call to cross-cultural ministry.  A summer missions experience in Costa Rica confirmed God's leading in his life.

Cathy is a Saskatchewan girl who loved Jesus from an early age and who also had the blessing of spiritual nurture by people who realized that God so loved the WORLD!  At the age of 20 she knew that no sacrifice that she could make could possibly compare to the sacrifice that Christ had made for her, and she offered her life to be used how and where He desired.

The two of them were directed by God's infinite wisdom to be in Vancouver, BC, at the same time in the summer of 1983.  Their immediate attraction to each other was intensified by the realization that both of them felt called to missions, and they were married in July of 1984.  Their preparation for overseas service included Ken's pursuing a M.Div. degree, a church planting experience in Mississauga, Ontario, and then an associate pastorate in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, before leaving Canada in early 1994 with their two small children, Shannon and Joel, to study Spanish in Costa Rica.  They spent 13 years in the beautiful country of Chile serving in the areas of leadership development and church planting.

God's plans for them included drawing them back to Canada in January of 2008.  They settled in London, Ontario, where they thought they might be for the rest of their lives.  They found refreshing fellowship and opportunities to serve the Lord with the people of Knollwood Baptist Church. They were able to meet some family needs and be blessed with good friendships.  However, a series of circumstances and some clear words directly from the Lord opened their eyes to the fact that God wanted them to be open to His calling once again to international missions.  He made them aware of the desperate need for Christ in Extremadura, Spain.  An area the size of southwestern Ontario, with a population of over a million people, there are only about 20 Christ-following congregations.  A visit to Spain broke their hearts for the people, as they prayer-walked town after town, with no evangelical witness and no known believers.

Finally, in March of 2014 they arrived in Spain and began making the beautiful medieval town of Jerez de los Caballeros their home. Their ministry currently consists of using their gifts and talents to build bridges to the community, such as teaching English, volunteering in a school, helping with tourism promotion, and opening their home to their new friends. The have also met a handful of believers who are so thankful for the fellowship and weekly Bible study that they enjoy in the Yingers’ home. The group is praying for God’s direction as they look to see a health church planted in this town in the future.

They realize that the challenge is great, and their heart's desire is that, like Paul: “My goal was to spread the Good News where the name of Christ was not known.  I didn't want to build on a foundation which others had laid. As Scripture says, 'Those who were never told about Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.' … Now I am on my way to Spain, so I hope to see you when I come your way.  After I have enjoyed your company for a while, I hope that you will support my trip to Spain.” (Romans 15:20-21, 24)

Ken and Cathy urgently feel the need for a strong team of prayer warriors.  The spiritual darkness in this area is deep and heavy and the urgency of the task is overwhelming.  They thank you in advance for joining with them in interceding for the people of Spain to the Lord of the Harvest!
