Steve was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his Saviour when he was a young child. He has interpersonal skills which enable him to build relationships with those he meets and he has a sincere love for young people.

Jacquie was raised in a loving Christian home and spent the majority of her growing up years in Japan where her parents, Carl and Wilma DeBoer, were missionaries. When Jacquie was five years old she asked Christ into her heart. Jacquie experienced tremendous spiritual growth during her time at boarding school, Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ).

Steve and Jacquie met after Jacquie returned to Canada to earn her Bachelor of Education. They were married in 1989 and realized early in their marriage that the Lord was directing them to missions. Both were very involved in the lives of young people—Steve as a child care worker and Jacquie as a teacher. The loss of a close friend, brought about the realization that if they were going to serve God as they both knew they wanted to, they would have to be open to going beyond their comfort zone. The Lord, using friends and circumstances, led them to consider ministry at CAJ.

Upon completion of an initial two year short-term assignment, the Willsons applied and were accepted for career service with Fellowship International to serve in Japan. Steve is the Property Manager at the school, is involved in mentoring CAJ students and in doing outreach among the Japanese. Jacquie, who began working in curriculum review and English teaching, is now the Director of the school. The Willsons arrived at Christian Academy in Japan in June 1999.

The Willsons have three daughters—Lauren, Rachael and Caitlin.
